Lobster grilled cheese

While wandering around SoHo after getting my sunglasses refitted, it was that time of day and started thinking about where to eat lunch. Browsing nearby restaurants, I wasn’t sure what I was in the mood for. Menu after menu, there were items here and there that seemed good but, once I got to Bistro Les Amis, located at the corner of Spring and Thompson Streets, I saw it: lobster grilled cheese sandwich—made my mind up really fast.

At that point, I was only a block away and arrived there in no time. Walking towards the door, I was immediately greeted by a server who gave me the choice of where to sit. It was a beautiful day and decided to dine outside.

After giving the menu another look (and was very much tempted by a tuna steak sandwich on their specials list), I stuck with my instincts and put in my order.

Almost immediately, a basket of bread was delivered to the table.

The bread was nice and crusty, and perfect with a coating of butter. I definitely could have cleaned it out and asked for more but I was going to make sure I stayed hungry for my main course.

Shortly after, my french martini was served.

Comprised of Stoli vanilla, Chambord, and pineapple juice, this was a fantastic cocktail. Loaded with fruity flavor, it was refreshing and delicious.

Next, the purpose of my visit was brought to the table and it was lovely.

Served alongside a light salad, the sandwich was beautifully toasted and looked perfect.

The lobster was stacked alongside mascarpone and aged provolone cheeses, scallions, tomatoes, and baby arugula. This was outstanding.

Every bite was packed with flavor. It will definitely go down as one of my favorite sandwiches ever!

In addition, I also ordered a side of brussels sprouts.

With the light char, this made for a great accompaniment to lunch.

Bistro Les Amis offers great food with friendly service and, throw in perfect weather, an overall exceptional experience. Plus, I’m still curious about that tuna sandwich.

Myrtle Beach Lobster Roll

leave a comment »

Have had lobster rolls in Connecticut and Maine, there are definitely their differences, but on vacation in Myrtle Beach, made a stop by the poolside bar at the Marriott Resort and Spa at Grande Dunes and spotted a lobster roll on the menu and am not usually one to say ‘No.’

Used to the simple set-up of clumped lobster meat on a bun, on this occasion, got a generous helping of lobster, atop some lettuce and sliced tomatoes lining the bun. It was delicious. The sandwich was heartier than the typical lobster roll and it came with a well-prepared French fries.

There are certain expectations when it comes to food from a hotel bar, the Marriott Resort and Spa at Grande Dunes exceeded them on several occasions.
