The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel

leave a comment »

Locally known as The Lord, the Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel has written on its façade: “Sydney’s Oldest Hotel.” The hotel is located in Sydney’s The Rocks district, at the corner of Kent and Argyle streets. In 1831, Richard Phillips opened a pub called the Shipwright Arms at that same intersection.

After changing the name a couple times (along with ownership), the then-Quarrymans Arms, under the ownership of William Wells, was converted into a pub and hotel in the 1840s: The Lord Nelson.

The Brewery was added to the Lord Nelson in 1987.
