Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista

leave a comment »

Located by the Powell-Hyde Cable Car’s last stop in Fisherman’s Wharf, it is said to be the birthplace of Irish Coffee in the United States. Dating back to November 10, 1952, it is said to have originated because of challenge from the Buena Vista’s then-owner Jack Koeppler to re-create the “Irish Coffee” served in Ireland’s Shannon Airport.

The Buena Vista serves up to 2,000 Irish Coffees a day.
