A New Years trip to Chicago created a lot of memories and new discoveries as a first trip to “The Windy City.”

Staying at the lovely Allerton Hotel (701 North Michigan Avenue), it was in the middle of the Magnificent Mile shopping district and a few steps away from this magnificent landmark.

The Chicago Water Tower, built in 1869, is the second oldest water tower in the United States and is known to be one of the few structures still standing since the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
