The San Francisco Centre Dome

A couple blocks from Union Square, the San Francisco Centre is an upscale shopping mall that features over 180 retail shops, a 9-screen cinema, and a branch of San Francisco State University.

The mall’s signature dome was designed by Albert Passis and debuted when the mall opened in 1896 as the Emporium

After being rocked by a huge earthquake in 1906, the Emporium was destroyed, including the original dome. The dome was reconstructed two years later and went through a revitalization in 2006.

The dome, itself, is a three-story structure and has over 900 lights lining the ribs of the dome.
