Saturday, June 9, 2012, coined “The Clash of the Titans,” the national teams of Argentina and Brazil met in an international friendly at Metlife Stadium, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Metlife Stadium is home to New York’s American football teams, the Giants and the Jets.

Argentina came out the victor in a 4-3 win, with FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi scoring a hat trick.

It was a sellout crowd that day and Metlife Stadium had a record attendance seeing 81,994 fans.

Brazil’s young phenom Neymar (11) battles Argentina’s Javier Mascherano (14) for the ball. Brazil’s Oscar (10) and Marcelo (6), alongside Argentina’s Fernando Gago (5), get into position to block or pass, while Messi (10) and Brazil’s Sandro (5) look on.
